La edad promedio de los mexicanos que más compran en línea es de 36 años, donde predominan, con un 54%, los hombres, siendo mayormente los empleados de tiempo completo los que prefieren comprar online.

Antonio Rivero, director regional de Ventas para Latinoamérica en Manhattan Associates, empresa especializada en cadena de suministro y comercio omnicanal, menciona que en México el crecimiento del comercio electrónico ha sido constante y que tiene un gran futuro.

“México y Brasil son los mercados más grandes de América Latina, en temas de comercio electrónico, por número de habitantes y el acceso a los medios digitales. En cuanto a México el crecimiento ha sido de hasta doble o triple dígito en los últimos cinco años”, mencionó Rivero.

Aunado a esto, el incremento y disposición de las nuevas tecnologías ha hecho posible que el también conocido e-commerce crezca. La computadora es el dispositivo más utilizado para hacer transacciones comerciales vía online, mientras que 4 de cada 5 personas que poseen un dispositivo móvil realizan transacciones diarias, principalmente para pagar algún tipo de transporte.

Sin embargo, aún existen retos importantes en cuanto a esta creciente industria. Por ejemplo, el hecho de lo que significa el dinero en efectivo para la sociedad mexicana, en la que menos del 50% de la población está bancarizada por desconfianza hacia las instituciones financieras, así como para evitar pagar impuestos.

Por otro lado, la desconfianza hacia el comercio electrónico, recae en la inseguridad que surge debido a los delitos y fraudes electrónicos que se cometen a través de sitios web al pagar con tarjetas de débito y crédito.

“Sabemos que en la industria aún existen amenazas, pero también muchas áreas de oportunidad. Todavía quedan temas sobre seguridad, logística y bancarización que se deben tomar en cuenta, para no sólo tener un crecimiento exacerbado, sino que éste venga acompañado de innovación, buen servicio y una excelente experiencia de compra”, puntualizó Rivero.

A pesar de estos retos y sus implicaciones, el comercio electrónico, sin duda, es una industria en pleno crecimiento, que se perfeccionará a través de los años y con un constante aprendizaje y entendimiento por parte de los que compran como de los que ofertan.
