Los principales efectos del arco eléctrico son:

Podemos decir que la falla de arco representa uno de los peores riesgos en un sistema de potencia y debido a que la protección contra sobrecorriente es incapaz de evitar sus efectos, es necesario utilizar otro tipo de protección.
