“Conocer a los compradores y cumplir sus demandas es fundamental en este panorama cambiante”, comentó Alan Gershenhorn, director ejecutivo comercial para UPS. “Las compañías deben reconocer que, debido a que la competencia ahora proviene de todas partes del mundo, los consumidores desean maneras diferentes de realizar compras, formas más convenientes de recibirlas y experiencias innovadoras de principio a fin”.

El estudio también mostró que la competencia global para los clientes está aumentando, con una cifra importante de compradores en línea en Canadá (83%), Brasil (81%) y México (78%), que compran en tiendas internacionales. En Estados Unidos, casi la mitad (47%) de los consumidores compraron en tiendas internacionales. Las razones por las cuales realizan compras internacionales son principalmente mejores precios y el acceso a productos específicos o exclusivos.
A pesar de que el comercio electrónico ya es una parte establecida del proceso de compra, el estudio documentó dónde y cómo se llevan a cabo esas transacciones: un porcentaje considerablemente más alto de usuarios de teléfonos inteligentes realizaron compras a través de éstos tipos de dispositivos.
