En esta primera edición se contó con la participación de más de 215 desarrolladores de diferentes estados de la república, distribuidos en 42 equipos; quienes resolvieron retos enfocados en tres ámbitos: banca, retail y cambio social. Los equipos de desarrolladores estuvieron apoyados por 35 mentores expertos en las tres industrias y en las tecnologías que IBM puso a disposición de los participantes: Cómputo de Alto Rendimiento (HPC), Internet de las Cosas (IoT), Blockchain e IBM Watson.
La aplicación ganadora usa API de Inteligencia Artificial de Watson disponibles en la plataforma de desarrollo IBM Bluemix, como Visual Recognition, Conversation, Translation y Virtual Agent; para crear un servicio -vía chatbot (Asesor Cognitivo Virtual)- que permite al usuario por un lado, encontrar las mejores opciones y ofertas en cualquier tipo de producto disponible en tiendas departamentales, a fin de ahorrarles tiempo, dinero y esfuerzo; y a la empresa minorista por otro, el incrementar ventas y ganar la lealtad del consumidor.
El equipo ganador está conformado por Ricardo Mirón, Natalia Peimbert, Fernanda Ochoa, Francisco Guzmán y Rodolfo Ferro, quienes forman parte de Bravers y Future Lab, dos comunidades estudiantiles enfocadas a potenciar nuevos talentos en desarrollo tecnológico y emprendimiento, del estado de Guanajuato, quienes se unieron en un solo equipo a fin de participar en HackaPalooza.
