El programa Puntos México Conectado se brinda a población abierta, de manera gratuita y en instalaciones de última generación. Actualmente cuenta con 438 mil socios y ofrece cursos de Programación, Robótica, Diseño, Creación e Implementación de Negocios, entre muchos más. Con los 32 Puntos México Conectado, uno en cada entidad del país, se espera beneficiar a 160 mil ciudadanos cada año.
Al encabezar la ceremonia en la que la SCT y la empresa Samsung iniciaron esta alianza estratégica para la implementación de cursos de realidad virtual en los 32 Puntos México Conectado, el secretario de Comunicaciones y Transportes, Gerardo Ruiz Esparza, aseguró que «estos espacios son uno de los Compromisos de Gobierno y con esta nueva herramienta amplían su oferta en la mejora educativa. La capacitación y el uso de esta tecnología de punta, antes reservada sólo a expertos y técnicos especializados, ahora estará disponible para toda la población de forma gratuita, sin importar, género, edad, condición económica o grado de escolaridad o de conocimiento de las ciencias computacionales».

Durante la ceremonia, presentes también el gobernador de Hidalgo, Omar Fayad Meneses; el subsecretario de Comunicaciones, Edgar Olvera Jiménez y la coordinadora de Estrategia Digital Nacional de la Presidencia de la República, Alejandra Lagunes Soto Ruiz, HS Jo abundó en que «trabajará para que la alianza con la SCT y con los Puntos México Conectado perdure. La alianza estratégica que hoy la SCT formaliza con Samsung, a través de este convenio, permitirá que los socios de la red de Puntos México Conectado en todo el país, se capaciten en el uso de la tecnología y aprendan a desarrollar contenidos de realidad virtual».
En su oportunidad, Omar Fayad resaltó el esfuerzo del gobierno de la república para llevar conectividad y tecnología a todo el país, esfuerzo que debería ser secundado por los gobiernos estatales. Agradeció que sean niños y jóvenes hidalguenses los beneficiarios de estos programas de inclusión y equidad, que redundarán en una mejor educación y futuro para todos.
