El panel fue moderado por Humane Society International (HSI), una organización global líder en protección animal, que trabaja con estos y otros líderes de la industria alimentaria a nivel mundial en la adopción e implementación de políticas que procuren el bienestar de los animales.
Sabina García, gerente de Programas y Políticas Corporativas del Departamento de Animales de Producción de HSI México, declaró: “Celebramos a Bimbo, Alsea, Arcos Dorados y Toks por su compromiso con el bienestar animal, abasto responsable y por su progreso en estos temas. Está creciendo entre los consumidores e inversionistas la preocupación por el bienestar animal y las prácticas de los corporativos en sus cadenas de suministro, especialmente respecto al confinamiento de por vida de las gallinas ponedoras y las cerdas gestantes en jaulas. El mundo se está alejando de estas prácticas y esperamos que las experiencias compartidas durante el panel motiven a otras empresas a hacer lo mismo».
Gabriela Tiburcio, directora de Calidad y Nuevos Productos de Alsea, declaró en su presentación: “Una de las formas de ganar como empresa es la sustentabilidad. Como resultado de esto se formaron comisiones de consumo responsable para asegurar que los insumos son seguros y cumplen la calidad que los consumidores esperan. Actualizamos nuestro Vendor Agreement, en el que se incluye inocuidad, medio ambiente bioética y bienestar animal, y que esperamos nuestros proveedores cumplan».
