Durante este periodo, las tiendas tienen el reto de satisfacer la demanda con un eficiente control y manejo de sus inventarios, según los pronósticos realizados para la temporada. Atrás quedaron los días en que los inventarios y las revisiones de stock eran rastreados a mano.
Según la Federación Nacional de Minoristas, las compras navideñas continúan creciendo año tras año –se espera que las ventas navideñas del 2017, crezcan entre 3.6% y 4%-. Si bien esto puede ser una pesadilla, los minoristas deben ver esto como una oportunidad de crecimiento. A medida que el mundo va evolucionando, más consumidores usarán la tecnología para hacer sus compras de temporada. El comercio electrónico está progresando rápidamente, con cifras que demuestran que los usuarios planean realizar sus compras navideñas en una variedad de canales minoristas como páginas web (59%), tiendas por departamento (57%) y pequeñas empresas (25%).

Los minoristas ahora pueden ayudar a los padres frustrados a encontrar el regalo perfecto con herramientas que alertan cuando se disminuye el inventario de cualquier producto, y así mismo rastrean las tendencias de compra basadas en el análisis del comportamiento general de los clientes y la demanda del mercado.
